AAPA Meetings in Long Beach and Chicago Give Team a Detailed Perspective on Industry Trends, Solutions and Needs

CERRITOS, CA, May 2, 2005—Saga Technologies, a software development and IT consulting provider, recently participated in two meetings held by the AAPA (American Association of Port Authorities) as part of its initiative to gain a deeper understanding of the technology needs and issues pertaining to the Port industry. The two recent meetings, held in Long Beach, CA and Chicago, IL focused on IT-based issues in the port industry and were attended by CIOs and other technology management from ports across the country.

“Through the recent projects that we have completed for the Port of Los Angeles, we developed a keen interest in the Port industry, as well as an appreciation for the situation that it faces,” explained Jason Xue, Director at Saga Technologies. “In the next few decades, U.S. Ports will be faced with throughput increasing at an unprecedented rate, not to mention added security and integration needs. This necessitates the implementation of technology-based solutions now in order to lay the groundwork for the future. The AAPA meetings consisted of seminars, discussions, presentations and workshops covering the topic of information technology and its role in relation to integrating port operations, increasing efficiency and meeting personnel, environmental and other demands.
